My experience with small business goes back a long way.

Starting around age 12, I helped my mom in her home office with basic bookkeeping as our family business grew from a small operation into a respected commercial turf establishment business serving contractors throughout New York State.

Many years later, at 30, I co-founded and operated a restaurant. What started as a small bistro grew into a much larger operation with a 100-person event space and a 7-barrel brewery.

Over the course of 15 years, I built the accounting system from the ground up, adapted to three different POS systems, wrote and rewrote business plans, managed cash flow, and made a whole lot of decisions with real dollars on the line.

Since then, I’ve worked with other small-business owners on bookkeeping systems, financial cleanup, forecasting, operations, and strategy.

I’ve learned that no two businesses are alike, and the numbers rarely tell the whole story.

I like digging into that story. Asking questions. Finding the patterns. And helping owners make sense of what their business is telling them.
